Tammy’s Fish & Chips
About This Spot
Stepping into Tammy’s Fish & Chips on The Drove feels like slipping into a comforting local ritual. The air hums with the gentle sizzle of batter hitting hot oil, mingling with the cozy buzz of familiar voices and quick, cheerful exchanges behind the counter. It’s a spot where time slows just enough to appreciate the little things—the warmth of freshly cooked food, the careful wrapping of paper parcels, and the easy camaraderie among regulars and first-timers alike.
The atmosphere is down-to-earth and unpretentious, a welcome contrast to the busier, more tourist-focused places along Brighton’s seafront. Here, you’re not rushed; instead, there’s a steady, thoughtful pace that echoes the care put into each portion. Whether arriving solo to pick up a classic cod and chips or gathering with friends for something a little different like rock or scampi with a generous helping of curry sauce, the experience feels rooted in simple pleasures.
Behind Tammy’s counter, the team’s genuine warmth and attentiveness elevate the everyday fish and chip run into something quietly memorable. The batter crackles satisfyingly crisp without overwhelming the tender fish beneath, and the chips carry just the right amount of golden crunch. Paired with comforting sides like mushy peas or a homemade pie, the menu invites moments of contentment rather than haste.
For those who appreciate local tradition, Tammy’s is a place where the rhythm of the neighborhood plays out in the hum of the fryer and the steady stream of loyal customers. Ordering here feels less like a transaction and more like participating in a small, joyful occasion—a moment to savor both the food and the friendly, familiar surroundings.

Reviews are decent so decided to give Tammy’s a go - and discovered all the 5* ratings are accurate. Great food, good potions, good value for money, and the guys behind the counter were helpful and friendly.

Absolutely superb fish and chips. Cheaper than any chippie on Brighton seafront. Less than a tenner for medium haddock and chips. It's our go to destination whenever we come down from London. You won't be disappointed.

Delicious fish and chips, cooked fresh to order. The cod was perfectly cooked, with a crispy thin batter. Homemade chips also cooked to perfection! Recommend giving them a call and pre-order for collection on busier nights. Really friendly service too, will definitely be back for more soon!

I haven't been to Tammy's for a while, so thought that as it's quite local to where I live, I would try. Didn't have to wait too long, by the friendly guys preparing the food. The Cod and chips that we ordered were great. Food was piping hot and the fish was succulent and lovely. In fact my family really felt sated and satisfied after the lovely meal. No doubt I'll definitely use this place again, seeing as they prepared good food at a reasonable price. Thanks for your service @ Tammy's

I read reviews before going here, look at the 1 star review guy, gave 5 for subway and 3 for Burger King because ‘it closed at 8’. People like him don’t deserve to review, let me tell you about mine. Very friendly guys, very good prices, excellent food. Rock is my favourite of all the fish, so look at that!! Sorry I forgot to take a picture as I’d started stuffing my face. Batter crispy and light, chips spot on. New fav chippy in town, I will be going a whole lot more, delicious!!!

Not a connaisseur in fish&chips as a Dutchman, but I loved the large fish&chips I got at Tammy’s. The chips&chicken nuggets were loved by our children as well. You could really taste that the chips were home made. After a 7 minute drive home the chips were still blazing hot, so that was great. Had to wait for about 15 minutes till our order was ready. The boys who were helping us, were really nice as well.

I’ve been meaning to give this lovely fish and chip shop a review for ages. I found it by accident on a really cold and wet night when I was desperate for something lovely to eat. Every time I’ve bought food from there, it’s at city delicious. Really fresh fish and super crispy chips. The people that work there are lovely and it’s such great value. I’m only down the road so knowing I don’t have to cycle into town is brilliant.

Came across Tammy's on a weekend away in Brighton, after a long and arduous journey. The steep hill climb to the chippy helped build up our appetite and gave us a laugh along the way. Staff were friendly, food was freshly cooked. All in all, a worthwhile find.
